Process: These photographic illustrations begin with a photograph I’ve taken while bird watching with my sister the bird-spotter extraordinaire. With careful masking, I remove or minimize the backgrounds to direct focus on the subject or part of the subject. In some pieces, I’ve added a pale wash behind the subject. My desire is to create a finished piece that has a style similar to wildlife illustrations of the 19th and early 20th century.
